Asiya Clarke

My work is influenced by nature and our search for meaning. My current paintings are based on photographs of water, catching in a spilt second what the eye cannot see. These abstract images become subjected to my personal interpretation, a playful attempt to make sense of things.



I am a recent MA graduate from Goldsmiths College, where I was focusing on sculpture made from recycled materials. These comical works related to the body and human vulnerability and aspiration and were selected for the Saatchi New Sensation show in 2008.



I have recently moved to Luton where I work from my studio and offer drawing and painting tuition.
